Synopsis

A man's hand cradles a microphone, crisp white shirtcuff peeking out from the sleeve of the blackest tux that's ever been. The hand, the mike, and a cigarette dangling, a plume of pale smoke curling up through the dark velvet air, toward the lights.

There's fame, sure, and money. Sex, are you kidding. And there's booze everywhere and drugs everywhere, and about forty other kinds of good time most poor suckers wouldn't let themselves dream of.

There's also power.

Not the ordinary kind, the kind that makes one of your pals bring you a smoke, a drink, a girl before you even knew you were about to want one. Not the kind that lets you break all the rules because they don't apply to you. Not even the kind that lets you do something good, once in a while, because it's the right thing and you can and that's reason enough.

This kind of power is the kind that guarantees no one, ever, will tell you the truth.

For the truth: there's music. In, around, under, and through it all, music. Because sometimes a great gift is given to someone who's too full of shit to know it ain't him. It's the music.
